The Hoop-Back Spindle Chair is a modern take on the spindle-back: a broad, curved top rail that wraps around the shoulders, carried on round spindles, over a comfortable upholstered seat. In a light ash tone it brightens a dark taproom and suits Scandinavian-leaning interiors with pale timber and white tile.
The curved rail gives the chair the comfort of a low armchair while staying narrow enough to fit along a communal table at 24 in centres. Spindles keep it visually light, so a long row of them doesn't block the room.
The frame is solid hardwood with stretchers between the legs, and the seat is a padded upholstered pad that can be specified in commercial vinyl in any colour — teal and slate are shown — or leather. Because the upholstered element is only the seat, recovering is quick and inexpensive.
The finish is a commercial lacquer that resists beer rings, spills and wipe-downs. A darker stain is available for a more traditional pub look.
